Visiting Classmates’ Blogs

First, I visited Lola’s Blog and read her post, “Poem About Me.” I commented:

Lola,

It sounds like you have once had quite a frightening experience with frogs. What happened with you and frogs that causes you to be disgusted by them?

Then, I commented on Billy’s post, “Online VS Offline.”

Billy,
It is very smart that you do not talk to strangers, both on and offline. Also, it is wise that you take cation to the things you post. I respect your opinion.

Next, I skimmed through Carlie’s Blog and read up on her post, “Carlie’s Blog.” I commented:

Carlie,
We have several things in common! I enjoy being active, I enjoy being with my family and pets, and one of my favorite foods is sushi. Why are English and history your favorite school subjects?

Lastly, I glanced at Emily’s Blog and read her post, “About Me.’ I commented:

Emily,
Just to clarify, do say “artist” as in dancer? Also, what do you enjoy photographing? I too love to dance and really enjoyed reading your poem.

Commenting Tips

Blog commenting can be a difficult skill. There are a couple of guidelines that are important to follow while blogging.

Here are some tips to help bloggers comment appropriately:

1. Stay Positive-Make sure comments are kind and respectful. Constructive criticism is acceptable, as long as it stays constructive!

2. Be Appropriate-Make sure comments are always on-topic and have a central focus. All blogging should be school appropriate.

3. Be Proper-Make sure comments are proofread before they are posted. Improper comments could be misinterpreted or hard to understand.

4. Stay Brief-Make sure comments are straight to the point. If a comment is too long, it could lose the attention of the reader.

5. Stay Private-Make sure comments never share any personal information such as last name, home address, or phone number. If this information gets posted, the blogger could be putting themselves in great danger.

Online Me vs. Offline Me

Online I am generally similar to my real-life self. I tend to be more serious, or straight-forward online, due to the fact that my tone may not be interpreted correctly through an electronic screen. In person, I speak with a more casual attitude, while online I am more formal. I always try to convey my opinions in the same way I would offline.

Who am I?

1. I am an 8th grade student in Calabasas, California.

2. I have two younger sisters named Amanda and Lizzie.

3. I have three dogs and one cat.

4. I love to dance and horse-back ride.

5. My favorite foods are avocado and sushi.

6. My favorite drinks are coffee and iced tea.

7. One of my favorite places in the country is Manhattan, New York. It is second to Eagle River, Wisconsin, the city where my beloved summer camp is located.

8. My favorite number is 8!

My Avatar

To create my avatar, I used the website http://www.buildyourwildself.com/. In the image, my avatar has dark brown wavy hair, dark shapely eyebrows, and a big smile that is missing some teeth! All of these features could be used to describe my appearance. In addition, my shirt has a smiley face to represent how much I smile. My avatar generally demonstrates what I look like.
